I witnessed LHC just today, in a conversation with some people I’m close to who have pretty severe TDS. One aspect of it that strikes me, that you didn’t mention, is that even though LHC is associated with analytical thinking, the opinions of someone with LHC can be logically incoherent, sometimes extremely so. I attribute this perhaps to the fact that their opinions are ultimately founded upon emotional responses, which are almost always unacknowledged, so the person fools themselves into believing that they are thinking things through purely based on reason.

Yes - although it's not all on one side of the spectrum. McGilchrist is fascinating and very funny when he discusses the rationalisations deployed by LHC - even when it changes its perspective it says that it hasn't....

As McGilchrist frequently points out, left brain dominated patients are frequently delusional, paranoid, and unreasonably optimistic. The “analytic and logical” pattern of understanding the environment is actually very blinkered, and divorced from direct experience.

Have you come across Kurt Gray's book 'Outraged'? An interesting 'evolutionary lens' approach to exploring LHC - which may give some people another way of untangling morality from perceived threats, making it easier to take steps towards 'prayer, and the humility that comes from prayer'.

As ever, thanks for sharing!

Left brained thinking is associated with the right (masculine) side of the body. It is about power and control.

Left brained thinking now patterns and controls every minute fraction of human culture including most/all of what is now promoted as religion, especially by those on the right (masculine) side of the culture wars divide. It also controls the World Process too. With increasingly devastating effects!

Right brained thinking is associated with the left (feminine) side of the body. The open-ended indefinable and psychic patterns of relationship. There are many taboos against the feminine/psychic aspect of our existence-being.

The Latin word for left is sinister. Left handers were always considered to be suspect. Quite often strong efforts were made to "cure" them of their left handed "sickness."

Left brained thinking instantaneously shuts down the Living Spirit. Or, put in another way, it instantaneously objectifies every one and every thing. The thus objectified other thus becomes ones enemy with which one is always in conflict, and over which one seeks to control and even eventually destroy.

Iain McGilchrist describes how the left-brained paradigm now controls all of Western culture and how the Master Principle has been usurped by the (benighted) Emissary. He is however wrong when he asserts that the right brain is the Master Principle.

The principal institutional form of the Emissary is(are) of course the various state religions, the most powerful of which is of course the "catholic" church. It runs the world's largest "privately" owned propaganda machine and is collectively the world's 2nd or 3rd largest property owner.

What would Jesus have to say about that? Would he be welcome or even recognized at the Vatican.

Meanwhile if you checkout the worse-than-awful politics that has always been promoted and espoused by Franklin Graham you will find that he is worse-than awful.

By contrast Bishop Budde is a breath of fresh air.
